Last weekend's winter workshop was a hit with participants. The kiwi guide to rigging in partnership with Lazlo's gave participants and introduction into the basics and the key steps to rigging a boat with accuracy. Karl shared with the group his rigging know-how from his experience as a NZ elite rower and as a member of the Lazlo team. Key learning from the workshop is that good gearing is free boat speed and injury prevention. One participant walked away with the plan to check over a double and test what they had learnt.
The on-water coaching session involved 3 lengths of the 2000m course in small boats. Rowers had videos taken while getting on-water coaching from our experienced coaches, Louise and Scott. After the session rowers received further feedback on their technique using the video footage. For one rower it was their first time in a single. They loved it and was buzzing when he came off the water.
Thank you to Cambridge Rowing Club for opening up their facilities and use of their boats.
This was the first workshop and a further one is planned for Saturday, 3 August from 11am. Check out our events page for more details and to register.
